IIP
The project covers the development and testing of infrastructure and services for the future generation Internet, i.e. IPv6 Internet and Future Internet. It is expected that new generations of Internet (one of the research priorities in the scope of European Union Framework Programmes) will contribute substantially to civilizational development in Europe by using their capabilities in all or almost all areas of human activity.

SCISSOR designs a new generation SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition)  security monitoring framework.

Current communication standards and systems are not optimally prepared for their application in unpredictable environments which occur for example in serious disaster scenarios such as earthquakes or tsunamis. Cellular communications systems are planned using accurate/strict link budget allocation mechanisms, in order to keep the probability of outage in an acceptable range. The whole communication chain (coding, signalling chain, but as well as higher layer protocols) is optimized for the operation in this range.

Mobility has become a central aspect of the lives of European citizens in business, education, and leisure. The rapid technological and societal changes and the bewildering emergence of numerous new services has created a complex environment for network operators and a confusing situation for end users. The enhancement of existing technologies and development of new Beyond 3G systems will increase this complexity even more.

The objective of MITSU (next generation MultImedia efficienT, Scalable and robUst Delivery) is to study and develop the next generation of multimedia streaming systems to be used over wireless networks.
While considering state of the art technologies in that field, MITSU intends to study and implement this video interoperability while minimising complexity and power consumption.

IMCOP improves current approaches in the field of digital preservation of IPTV and Internet Web-based content. It provides a comprehensive and extensive system for analyzing, documenting and presenting dynamic Web-based content and complex, multimedia objects.

The main goal of PROACTIVE is to research a holistic citizen-friendly multi sensor fusion and intelligent reasoning framework enabling the prediction, detection, understanding and efficient response to terrorist interests, goals and courses of actions in an urban environment.

INDECT is a research project focused on development of innovative techniques and algorithms for combating terrorism and other criminal activities threatening the citizens of the European Union. The project is performed by a group of 17 European partners under the leadership of the AGH – University of Science and Technology in Krakow. The main Coordinator of the project is prof. Andrzej Dziech. The project consortium consists of 11 universities, 4 companies and 2 potential users (Police Service of Northern Ireland and Polish Police).

The main objective of the Euro NGI network was to create and maintain the most prominent European centre of excellence in Next Generation Internet design and engineering, acting as a "Collective Intelligence Think Tank", representing a major support for the European Information Society industry and leading towards a European leadership in this domain.

One of the problems in video signal transmission is sound and image synchronization. Lack of synchronization strongly affects the quality perceived by the recipients of the system, therefore for the content provider it is very important to quickly detect such distortion. Currently, there are practically no automatic systems on the market that detect the problem of video and sound synchronization. In the initial research conducted at the Department of Telecommunications, an algorithm was developed to detect this distortion.
